History and mission
Fostering community prosperity and supporting the arts sector have long been key areas of focus at Liberty. The goal of our Art Award programme is not only to enrich our workspace with inspiring art, but also to create a platform that supports emerging artists as they transition from academic environments to the commercial art world. With the backing of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, this programme was designed to provide artists with the tools and guidance they need to thrive professionally.
Established in 2018, this initiative offers a comprehensive development programme to the next generation of artists. This includes workshops and sessions on setting up a studio, pricing and insuring artworks, applying for grants, curating exhibitions and much more. By equipping these artists with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed, we hope to empower them to navigate the often-challenging commercial landscape.
Our impact on the community
Our Art Award programme is a testament to our commitment to supporting the local art community. By focusing on artists who have recently completed their degrees, we are investing in the creative potential of our local talent.
The programme also offers these artists the unique opportunity to exhibit their works in our iconic London office, a space visited by hundreds of professionals each week. This exposure is invaluable, providing a platform for artists to showcase their work to a diverse audience and the chance to sell their pieces commission-free. The programme culminates in an Art Award evening, where three prizes are awarded:
1. Expert Panel Prize: A top prize of £3,500, awarded by a panel of industry experts.
2. Staff Choice Prize: A £2,500 prize, decided by a global vote from all our employees, reflecting the collective voice of our workforce.
3. Broker’s Choice Prize: A £1,500 prize, selected by our brokers, recognizing the work that resonates most with our industry partners.
The initiative gives the artists exposure, while also enriching the cultural fabric of the community by bringing new and exciting works of art into the public eye.
Looking forward: the next rotation
We are thrilled to announce that we have unveiled a new collection of works by 12 exceptionally talented artists from four distinguished art schools: The Art Academy London, Chelsea School of Art, Kingston University, and Brighton University.
These artists have been carefully selected and are eager to take advantage of the opportunity to showcase their talent. Clients and brokers can visit our broker lounge, where these new works are on display, offering fresh perspectives and creative inspiration.
Engaging our employees: upcoming events
The Art Committee is dedicated to fostering as much involvement from our employees as possible, and we have several exciting events lined up to help achieve this. Our next event is a “Meet and Greet” with the artists themselves.
At this event, each of the 12 artists will present their work and share the stories behind their creations. This is a unique opportunity to engage with the artists directly, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the programme and its impact.
We are incredibly proud of the Art Award programme as more than just an initiative to bring beautiful art into our office. It is a manifestation of our commitment to supporting the community and nurturing emerging talent. By participating in this programme, whether through voting, attending events, or simply admiring the artwork, you are contributing to a legacy of creativity and community support that reflects the very best of what Liberty stands for.
