About the artist
Paul Starns is a figurative artist living in Surrey, England. Having not been allowed to study art at school he completed a Foundation Degree in Contemporary Portraiture at the Art Academy London in 2020.
Whilst at the Academy he won the Drawing Prize in 2019 & was joint winner of the Peer Prize in the same year. He paints primarily with oil paint and looks to achieve more than a simple likeness by responding to each sitter’s unique story and he is currently particularly interested in highlighting the stories of men who have struggled with mental health issues.
