Tell us about 'The Fortune Teller'
My painting is about curiosity. The young woman has sought a reading from the fortune teller and is curious to learn something. As the viewer, we are curious to know what this might be. The eyes of the two women are not seen but are focused on the tarot cards and the viewer’s attention is drawn to consider their significance. They speak of a progression to maturity, relationships and harmony. Perhaps they relate to the boy in the old photograph? The viewer may draw their own conclusions to these questions and, in doing so, endeavor to satisfy their own curiosity.
