Liberty Specialty Markets makes two appointments to its Latin America and US leadership team

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, announced two appointments today. Manuel Moreno has been appointed Chief Underwriting Officer, Liberty Specialty Markets - US and Latin America and Heath Merrill has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, Liberty Specialty Markets - US and Latin America. They both report to Ronald Bolaños, President for the region. The appointments are effective immediately.

Manuel is based in Miami and is responsible for developing LSM’s position in Latin America while overseeing the regional portfolio.  He fills the vacancy left following Ronald’s promotion to President, Liberty Specialty Markets – US and Latin America last year.

Heath is based in Boston and is responsible for delivering the operational strategy to meet the business’ strategic objectives and will manage operations, claims, IT, risk and compliance, marketing and communications. Heath replaces Thais Kirchner who is retiring in April.

Manuel joins LSM from XS Global where he was CUO. He has over 20 years of experience in the industry, knows the region well and has great passion for the business with previous roles in the United States, Mexico and Colombia.

Heath was Financial Officer, International in the Global Risk Solutions Finance team prior to his promotion, a role he had held for around five years. He has over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry.
