Tell us about 'New Face'
This is a portrait of my sister. Painted delicately and loosely, I enjoy the ratio of light to dark. The colour is subtle and minimal but still strong. With this piece I feel less is more. It’s one of those paintings where the atmosphere gradually appeared as I built her face up. The glint in her stare captivates my attention. She is living from within, holding onto no physical thing. She depicts a knowing inside that there is more to come, and all is well.
