About the artist

Ben Barrow Portainer is a portrait artist based in London, having graduated from Brighton University. His work is focused on hand produced oil paintings describing the nature of the spiritual battle occurring within us.

"Simply knowing myself has made me understand better the spirit within others I’m painting. I paint boldly, and I need my paintings to feel deep. I aim to achieve insight into what is unnoticed by not all but most people. For example the benefit of taking a step back to observe the spirit within.

I want to help us get out of our head all the time, even for a moment. Plus develop awareness to the influences we live by. We are all influenced. To do this it’s vital to observe ourselves.

I find the battle between light and darkness in my colours scratch beneath the surface of the person I paint."
