Baby Shoes Artwork

This work intends to convey the temporal nature of the way we experience life and how we try to preserve moments. I feel that the tangible nature of such objects and the way we use them in an attempt to possess a moment in time is overwhelmingly present in all the items in this series of work.

The baby shoes have become relics of time passed and the changing of ever-growing bodies. Portraying them in this way I felt they became ghostlike, no longer filled by the feet of the children they once belonged to, creating a dual human disconnect and legacy. Since they are recognisable objects, collected by many parents, the painting will inevitably convey a communal experience, connecting many to their own experiences of the child-parent relationship and its evolution.
