Liberty Specialty Markets expands Casualty underwriting team

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed two underwriters to its Casualty team.

Jonathan Powell joins as Senior Underwriter for the US book of business, reporting to Phil Stephenson, Senior Underwriter – Excess Casualty. David Bramall joins as Underwriting Manager for the UK book of business, reporting to Dan Munro, Liability Underwriting Manager. Both take up their new roles with immediate effect.

Stuart Sutherland, Head of Liability Lines at Liberty Specialty Markets, said: “As part of our focus on further enhancing our Casualty team we’ve brought in Jonathan and David, both experienced in managing existing portfolios and identifying new opportunities. They have developed excellent relationships with their brokers over the years. Jonathan Powell has worked in the London insurance market for over 12 years in both the Lloyd’s and company market. He joins from Aspen, where he was Senior Casualty Underwriter.

David Bramall was formerly the Lead Underwriter for UK Casualty at MS Amlin for just under three years, previously leading the Marsh National Corporate and RMP Casualty broking teams. He brings over 22 years’ experience in the London and regional UK market.
