Tell us about 'They say I used to look like her'
This painting is from life and photographs of my mother-in-law, Gill, who was suffering with Parkinson’s disease. She would gradually slip down the chair as I painted her and I would have to keep propping her up. She was a very beautiful woman who in her younger years looked very much like Elizabeth Taylor. Gill was an avid reader and died not long after the painting was completed.
