May we, across a thousand miles, together gaze upon her beauty

Yin Wang

The sculpture juxtaposes metal and delicate rice paper tiles, both suggesting the idea of home. The enduring solidity of home in China contrasts with the fragile, transient nature of a home shaped by artist’s life abroad. These broken rice paper tiles, falling yet reassembling, reflect the ongoing process of deconstructing and restructuring a drifting identity. Together, they form a moon’s reflection in water—a poetic symbol of longing, reunion, and transcending distance. This mirrors the work’s title, drawn from Su Shi's Song Dynasty poem, symbolizing the deep connection between souls separated by distance but united under the same moon.
